Farmer Mark at Bristol's Farm

Educational Programs at Wild Carrot Farm

Agricultural literacy, understanding our link to the earth's bounty, knowing where our food comes from and how it is grown is so very important for children today because:

  • obesity now outranks tobacco as the nations top health risk
  • children need to make smart decisions about their nutrition and their environment.
  • spending time at our farm allows children to experience growing and harvesting their food first hand, utilizing their science, math, social, and motor skills working in cooperative learning groups, and learning responsible behavior.

Our farm is a fun, friendly, safe, and peaceful place.

If you would like to schedule a farm visit or have our farmers come to your school - please leave us a message at 860-977-6948 or send us an e-mail.

~ Farmers Mark & Joanie

Please note: As our farm has grown (10 acres under cultivation), we have found it more and more difficult to find the time to conduct educational programs at the farm and in schools. We are in the process of establishing the Wild Carrot Farm Seed to School Corp., which will be an IRS 501(C)(3) tax-exempt corporation. Through this entity, we can attract tax-deductible contributions and educational grants and will hire a Farm Education Coordinator to conduct all our programs. We will be teaching many children where their food comes from, how to grow, harvest, store it, determine nutritional value, and of course, how to cook it and eat healthy. In the"off-season", we will offer cooking and nutrition classes for high school and college students and adults.

Thanks for your patience.
